Oriflame looks forward to Consumer Affairs Ministry’s proposal

Oriflame will provide more self-employment opportunities to both men and women going forward and has a plan to expand its network to Tier 3 and 4 towns across the country .

Oriflame, a leading direct selling Swedish beauty brand is looking forward to the Consumer Affairs Ministry’s proposal to regulate the Rs 8000 crore direct selling sector which will protect the interest of consumers and direct sellers on direct selling platforms.

Lack of clear guidelines has upset the direct selling industry due to various Pyramid/Ponzi schemes in the market. The guidelines once notified will be conveyed to the states that may have an option to adopt them. And, the proposal once implemented will provide a conducive and sustainable operating environment for direct selling companies and at the same time ensure the interests of the consumers as informed by Vivek Katoch, Director, Corporate Affairs.

Expressing appreciation on government initiatives, Katoch further added, “We wholeheartedly support the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The company already has two world class manufacturing facility for domestic consumption & export purposes and going forward we will be investing in areas like packaging, labelling, equipment, bringing in new technologies including but not limited to Digitalization.”

Speaking about these initiatives, Juan Carlos Posada, Sr. Director, Regional Marketing, South Asia- Oriflame said, “We are committed to the cause of women empowerment and our business model has helped millions of Indian homemakers to fulfill their dreams independently. Interestingly, more than 90% of our business in India is contributed by women that clearly reflect the efforts we have made to empower them.”

Oriflame will provide more self-employment opportunities to both men and women going forward and has a plan to expand its network to Tier 3 and 4 towns across the country and help thousands of housewives and professionals who work part time to earn a steady income.
