O2 Skills Academy ties up with Telangana govt to train people for beauty and wellness sector

O2 Skills Academy has announced the signing of MOU with the Government of Telangana to train 1260 men and women between the ages of 18-35 over the next 3 years.

India currently faces severe shortage of skilled manpower. The reasons include dropping out of high school because of poor education, needing to support family at an early age, a lack of information on the employment opportunities, and mostly not having the basic skills to get employed. Several hundreds of youth in the state of Telangana, today are engaged as daily wage workers and are unaware of the opportunities available to them.

In order to continue its contribution to the Skill India program, O2 Skills Academy, a Hyderabad based Asian spa chain, which was set up in 2013 by O2 Spa, has announced the signing of MOU with the Government of Telangana to train 1260 men and women between the ages of 18-35 over the next 3 years.

This collaboration aims to provide employment linked, market oriented vocational training that will enable filling in the gaps, the Spa and Hospitality industry faces, by providing trained resources. The role of O2 Skills Academy will be to ensure effective mobilization, Training, Certification and finally Placement into apt jobs.

This agreement is said to be within the purview of the Telangana Employment Generation and Marketing Mission (EGMM) which falls under the Department of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development.

A maximum of 35 students per batch will undergo practical and theoretical classes for 3 months with an option of being trained in Wellness therapies, Hair and Beauty treatments in addition to Hospitality (F&B and Housekeeping).

Ritesh Mastipuram, Founder and Managing Director, O2 Spa said, "O2 Skills Academy is an initiative of the O2 Spa, primarily conceptualized to help meet the shortage of quality and skilled manpower in the spa and hospitality industry."

Swetha Arikatla, Director, O2 Skills said, "O2 Skills Academy is a world class training platform that focuses on both soft and hard aspects of training resulting in quality manpower for the industry."
