Singh stressed that the MoU will institutionalize Patanjali's participation on a long-term basis
Northeastern council (NEC) chairman Jitendra Singh has announced that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed with Patanjali Ayurved Limited for holistic management of cancer and other diseases in the northeast.
Singh stressed that the MoU will institutionalize Patanjali's participation on a long-term basis.
According to Singh, NEC will enter into a MoU with Chennai-based Adyar Cancer Institute, an institute rated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a top-notch institute, to help combat the scourge of cancer in the northeast.
Singh said, "Just like the tripartite MoU signed between Tata Memorial Centre, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute and NEC, there will be a similar understanding between NEC and Patanjali Ayurved Limited."
He added, "There are enthusiasts willing to work for the northeast. Among them is Acharya Balakrishna who has a plethora of research papers to his credit. We will enter a MoU with Patanjali through NEC so we can have a holistic management for cancer and other diseases. Ministers come and go but this should be institutionalized."
Acharya Balakrishna, MD, Patanjali Ayurved, said, "The entire northeastern region is sitting upon a treasure trove of medicinal plants and herbs that can be tapped as resources for health benefits and also supplied to the rest of the country."
He also emphasized on medicinal plants in the region that can help in prevention of HIV and fight intoxication. He also stressed on the establishment of Ayurved Colleges in every state of the region.
Balakrishna said, “The northeast has a rich biodiversity but no documentation has been done of the existing medicinal plants. We have strength in our knowledge and what is needed is to put emphasis on Ayurveda."
