Zumbura, an Indian restaurant is all set to mark its beginning in Clapham, London by Aamir Ahmad, Sean Galligan and David Garrett, co-founders of the furniture retailer Dwell.
The restaurant will showcase traditional cuisine of north India. Head chef Raju Rawat trained at Oberoi, a five-star hotel in New Delhi, worked at Michelin-starred Benares in Mayfair, the Cinnamon Club and Bombay Bicycle Club, and helped develop the street food brand Moolis.
The inclusive menu will feature a wide selection of small sharing plates, with an average spend per head of £20-£30. Starters, such as pakora and aloo tikia, are £3 or less. Small plates to share such as kullia, which is a lamb and turnip aromatic stew slow cooked on the bone, is £6-£8 per dish. Traditional vegetable dishes range from £3-£5 per dish.
Mr. Aamir Ahmad said “I wanted to be able to provide the kind of food I ate when I was growing up, but within a restaurant setting.”
The restaurant will also offer a wide variety of wine and beers located at 36a Old Town, Clapham, London.
