?Starbucks introduces its first 'gluten-free breakfast sandwich'

Coffe giant, Starbucks made an announcement that it is introducing more gluten-free and vegan food options to its menu.

For its gluten-conscious customers, Starbucks has added its first gluten-free breakfast sandwich. It is made up of Canadian bacon, an egg patty and cheddar cheese on a gluten-free roll. It became available across U.S. stores.

Keeping in mind consumers having Celiac disease and gluten-intolerance, Starbucks' new gluten-free breakfast sandwich will be prepared in a 'certified gluten-free environment'.

To prevent any further gluten contamination, it will be sealed in its own bag.

Darren Tristano, Technomic Chief Insights Officer, said, "You have this whole group of consumers who believe gluten isn't good for you. Many are younger consumers, and if you're not speaking their language, you risk losing [them]."

The coffee chain also announced the launch of a vegan-friendly sprouted grain bagel, an organic avocado spread, two new fruit-filled yogurt parfaits and a peanut butter cup cookie.

Tristano added, "I don't see that this will have a dramatic impact on [Starbucks] sales but will help more with retention of customers. This is designed to build trust with customers, so they respect your brand."
