Sbarro to open 40-50 restaurants within next 5 years

Sbarro Restaurants, which is making a comeback in India, is planning to open 40-50 restaurants in next five years.

The Ohio based restaurant chain has signed a master franchisee deal with JIFPL (Jyoti International Foods) for making its debut in north and east India.

Talking to Restaurant India, Akhil Puri, CEO, Sbarro India, said, “We are looking at about 40-50 outlets in next five years where we will begin with Delhi NCR and gradually move towards other cities.”

“Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Kolkata are the major cities for expansion within next five years”, added Puri.

The restaurant has earlier entered India in 2007 but has to terminate its JV in 2009 due to poor operations.

The restaurant chain is known for its finest handmade pizzas and value for money pricing.

A slice of Sbarro pizza will cost Rs 49 and will have three varieties including thin crust, pan friend and rolled pizza.
