Patanjali to setup its foot in dairy business; Aims to cross 5 lakh crore mark by 2022

Patanjali, brand of India’s ‘Yog Guru’ Baba Ramdev, is now gearing up to take on dairy sector. While briefing the details, Ramdev stated that soon the brand will put its foot in the dairy business and it is expecting to cross five lakh crore mark by 2022.

Ramdev was attending a two day national seminar at National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (NDRI). He further revealed that Patanjali is set to enter the dairy business and in this financial year, production will start in three dairy plants - one each in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

The theme of the seminar was 'Indian Dairy and Food Sector: Way Forward to Meet Future Challenges'. He said at present, the dairy business is pegged at Rs 3 lakh crore, which will be more than Rs 5 lakh crore by 2022. He praised the efforts of NDRI in saving and improving the indigenous milk animals and offered to work with the institute.

After addressing the audience in the seminar, Ramdev took a tour of NDRI and the facilities available at the centre. He was also given the demonstration of milk adulteration detection kits developed at the institute. A K Srivastava, Director, NDRI, highlighted the institute's achievements in the area of milk production as well as processing. He also explained the role of NDRI in cloning, which will help in the multiplication of superior germplasm.
