Nestle Spain to invest 102 million euros in NESCAFE

Nestle Spain has announce an investment of 102 million euros at its factory in Girona, Spain dedicated to the production of soluble coffee.

“The investment will go towards the installation of a new line to increase by 30 per cent the production capacity of instant coffee from the center, to be located at 30,000 tonnes per year,” said, Laurent Dereux, CEO, and Miquel Serra, Technical Director, Nestle.

The expansion of production to be achieved with the entry into operation of the new line is entirely for export, especially to European countries to which the centre of Girona is already supplying some of their production and is ready to receive new volumes.

The new facility, which will be equipped with the latest technology, will also be more efficient than current from the environmental point of view, with lower power consumption (-40 per cent) and water (-33 per cent) per kilo of product manufactured.

Meanwgile, In the period 2007-2014, Nestle has invested a total of 236 million euros in the factory in Girona, mainly for the construction of the new production of Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsules, operational since the last quarter of 2009, and modernization of production lines manufacturing plant Nescafé instant coffee recently completed.

The new investment, to be delivered between 2015 and 2017, reinforces the relevance of the factory Girona in the productive structure of the Group, which is considered as a reference centre for the production of soluble coffee worldwide, and contribute to ensure future competitiveness of the centre, one of the key elements is the quality of its staff and ongoing training effort, which engaged about 23,000 hours annually.
