Bengaluru-based RSP Gourmet Foods, a Rs 25 crore entity, in the space of mall management, large scale catering and also distributors for spring water brand Mulshi Springs, are now sole distributors for Amrut Distilleries in India targeting Karnataka and Maharashtra as its first markets.

Amrut whiskey that has won international acclaim is now available across its first market, Bengaluru, in all high and mid-level hotels, restaurants, bars and wine shops. Until now it was not available in India and was only exported to international markets.

Siddharth Poojari, Founder Director, RSP Gourmet Food says, “We have taken on the brand as their distributors and marketers and will take it across India, RSP is in the process of registering the brand in Maharashtra before it can start to sell the whiskey in Mumbai, the next market it will sell in. The pricing for Bengaluru has been set at Rs 2,800 to Rs, 3500, for 750 ml bottles, and Mumbai has not been priced yet.”

“We are beginning with three brands for India- Amrut Single Malt, Amrut Peated Single Malt and Amrut Fusion Single Malt. Internationally Amrut has more variants, however we will start with these that India is ready for. The single malt market is growing in India but not at the pace at which wine is growing,” Poojari added.

They are also launching three new food service brands in the next 30-45 days – Glass House, a fine-dining restaurant serving European cuisine, mid-level bar and an Asian restaurant called Blue Buddha in Bengaluru.

“We have concentrated strongly in Bengaluru because we started here. There are many expatriates here too and there is lot of space available. Having a base here has been easier. We will take these brands across India in the next six months for sure,” Poojari mentioned.
