CavinKare to focus on expanding dairy biz in India

CavinKare which recently ventured into dairy business is planning to expand its retail segment for its dairy products. The Cavin brand dairy products such as milk, curd, milk powder, cheese, ghee and paneer are currently available across Tamil Nadu.

“Considering the ever-expanding demand for dairy products and the innovation strength our company has, I have enough reasons to believe that our dairy business will lead us to the next phase of growth,” CK Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director, CavinKare, reported saying in Business Line.

The brand also took its ‘milkshake’ to North which does not require a cold-chain to distribute. At the same time CavinKare is planning to expand its dairy products to milk-starved countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Before expanding its retail footprint, the company is planning to ensure the manufacturing facility which presently has two facilities in Kanchipuram and Erode. “We have already sent a few consignments of milkshake and milk powder to these countries, and hope to bag some big orders from there. Henceforth, our expansion will be through outsourcing. There are a lot of co-operatives willing to come onboard. We are currently in talks with such co-operatives in Dindigul and Pollachi in Tamil Nadu,” Ranganathan added.

Explaining the same, he said, “Dairy products in the country are close to Rs 2 lakh crore, with not many big players at the national level. Of course, there are brands such as Amul and Nestle.”
