Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), the country's sixth largest mobile operator, entered into a franchise agreement with the Kishore Biyani-led Future Group to offer GSM mobile services under a new brand, T-24. Starting with the telecom circles in south India, TTSL will soon commence mobile operations under the brand name T-24. It plans to cover the entire nation by the end of 2010.
As told to Ramanjit Kaur of Franchise India Holdings Limited (FIHL) by Kishore Biyani, CEO, Future Group, “I am delighted at this partnership with Tata Teleservices Limited. The T-24 service is a unique offering which is innovative yet simple and provides customers a powerful value proposition.”
Under the franchise model, the services would be available only for Future Group customers. The customers at Future Group store will be able to redeem the points which they earn on shopping into a certain amount. Hence, under the 'Shop More, Talk More and Talk more, Shop More' scheme, the mobile GSM service will work like a loyalty programme, wherein a customer of Future Group will get some talk time when he shops at Future Group and vice-versa. Biyani added, “Customers will get shopping benefits for talking, and talk-time benefits each time they shop. This would also reinforce our presence in the consumption space, in keeping with Future Group’s vision of offering a unique shopping experience to our loyal consumers, cutting across product and industry categories.”
TTSL's GSM brand, Tata DoCoMo, currently offers GSM services in 15 telecom circles in the country and has been reporting the highest number of net subscriber addition in the last six months. On the other hand, Pantaloon Retail, the Future Group's flagship business, operates in 73 cities and towns and 65 rural locations.
