Weight Watchers enters India

The US-based firm to sell food items in the country in partnership with Capital Foods.

Weight Watchers enters India

New York based Weight Watchers International is entering India via Capital Foods. Artal Group, which owns a majority stake in Weight Watchers, has raised its stake in Capital Foods to 50 per cent.

The company is all set to introduce cake mixes, mayonnaise and soups under its Weight Watchers brand that will be manufactured and distributed by Capital Foods at Wapi in Gujarat.

Ajay Gupta, MD, Capital Foods, said, “We will initially bring in weight loss foods that fit into the Indian context. There will be three categories — soups, sandwich spreads and baking aids.”
