TexMex Cuisine to invest $10 million to open 10 Chili's restaurants by 2016

TexMex Cuisine, development partner for American casual dining restaurant chain Chili’s Grill & Bar in South and West India, is planning to invest $10 million to open ten outlets within next two years.

“We currently operate five outlets, out of which one is located in Mumbai, two in Bangalore, one in Hyderabad and Pune. We are building our sixth store in Bangalore and are planning to open 10 stores within two years in South and West region – predominately in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and other cities, where we are not present like Chennai, Goa, Cochin, Coimbatore and Mangalore. However, the business looks alluring at these places," says Ashish Saxena, CEO, TexMex Cuisine.

At present, the chain is operated by Texas-based Brinker International which has 10 restaurants across the country – five in the South and West (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune) and five in the North and East (Delhi, Kolkata and Chandigarh).

Chili’s competes with American casual dining restaurants Hard Rock Café and TGIF, both of which have already garnered a huge fan following in India.

“Our restaurants are targeted at three sets of customers – corporate, families and youth. We expect 40 per cent of our business from corporate followed by 30 per cent from families, 20 per cent from youth and the rest from a mixed set of walk-in customers,” added Saxena.
