Pearl Street's new Punjab Grill focuses on Punjabi and Mughlai dishes, which have rarely been seen. The restaurant which celebrated its grand opening on September 26 offers authentic northern Indian cuisine at 40 Pearl Street, Suite 107.

Ms. Simran Singh, GM, who manages the restaurant with his mother, Harmoninder, and his father, executive chef Gursharn said "We felt that we needed to bring more diversity to downtown. You can see that diversity throughout Grand Rapids, but not downtown."

Simran also added that “Mughlai style uses more spices, herbs and masalas in order to provide more flavorful dishes. Most Indian restaurants I've consulted for use maybe 20 to 25 spices, but we use variations of over 125 spices," he said. "That does give our food quite a bit more flavor, and it was the style of food that kings and royalty would eat."

Chef Gursharn, Exec. Chef, said “customers who want to sample the best example of the Mughlai style should order the lababdar, his personal favorite dish. It is a 100 percent authentic dish which is available in chicken, beef, or lamb.”

The restaurant is open from Monday to Friday from 11 am to 3 pm for lunch and 4 pm to 10 pm for dinner. While on Saturday, the restaurant is open for lunch from noon to 3pm and 4 pm to 10 pm for dinner. The restaurant is dine-in, but carry-out and catering options are also available.
