Sneh Mehtani Crowned

The New Jersey Restaurant Association (NJRA) has named Sneh Mehtani ‘Restaurateur of the Year’ in recognition of 30 years of innovation and service.  Sneh, the first Asian to receive the award, will be honoured for her achievement at the NJRA gala on December 2 at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.

Mr. Shaun Mehtani, MD, Mehtani Restaurant Group said “When my mother opened the original Moghul restaurant in New York City, she was a trailblazer. There were few, if any, Indian women running restaurants, and this cuisine was nowhere near as popular as it is today. Since this is our 30th year in business and my mom is retiring, the NJRA recognition is sort of a lifetime achievement award.”

The Mehtani Restaurant Group has grown to become one of the Northeast’s largest family-owned South Asian restaurant groups. Their property include three venues located within the Hyatt Morristown — Mehndi, which has authentic Punjabi and Mughlai fare; SM23 Bar & Lounge, with a cocktail culture vibe; and Ming II, serving pan-Asian food.

The group’s Edison properties include Moghul, with Northern Indian cuisine, and Ming, specializing in Far Eastern and Asian fusion dining, both located at Oak Tree Center.
