To further expand its presence in India, South African restaurant chain Nando’s is planning to open 30 more outlets.

At present, it has 11 outlets in India and plans to open around six restaurants every year.

Sumeet Yadav ,CEO, Nando’s Restaurant said, “We want to make this market as big as the UK, which is like a billion plus dollar market.”

He added, “Our plan is to open 5-6 restaurants every year, but since we are not a franchise-run operation, we open only when we get a good location, and if we go by this plan, we should have 30 stores in the next five years.”

The company currently owns five restaurants in Delhi, two in Bangalore, two in Chennai and two in Punjab.

Nando’s is also planning to sell its range of sauces in independent retail stores in India from May this year.

Earlier, Nando’s sauces were available only at its outlets.

David Care, Director, Nando’s Grocery Division said, “For the sauce, in the next five years, what we are looking is at least to have on the official way two million bottles and enter one million households in India.” He added, “The plan for the next two years would be to be in more than 2,000 stores in India.”
