The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Japanese Food Season 'Oishii Japan' in India. MAFF will be sponsoring several events in New Delhi and Mumbai till February 2014. Oishii Japan is to promote and showcase Japanese Food in India.

Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to India, said “I hope this project will increase fans and chefs of Japanese food and more and more people will have the opportunity to enjoy Japanese food in India.” 

The event will include cooking workshops, restaurant promotions, food retail promotions, recipe contests and food festivals giving patrons an opportunity to learn and develop a taste for Japanese cuisine. The project started on October 17th at the Embassy of Japan, New Delhi where culinary students of the famous Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa will experience the art of making sushi during a special workshop by Chef Asano from Tokyo Sushi Academy, Singapore.

Another highlight of ‘Japanese Food Season’ is the Japanese restaurant season where select Japanese restaurants in New Delhi and Mumbai will be offering a special Japanese course menu at a special price for three weeks starting 19 October. The participating restaurants include some of the most well-known Japanese food venues in New Delhi: Megu (The Leela Palace), Izakaya, Guppy by Ai, Sakae Sushi, Asia 7, SanQi (Four Seasons Hotel), India Jones (The Trident), Kofuku, Aoi, Umame and Sushi and many more.
