Haldiram sets solar plant

Haldiram Foods International, one of India’s famous food and beverage maker has installed a solar photovoltaic power plant of 1.5 MW at its Nagpur factory.

The plant is using solar power to churn out its popular bhujia, the crispy snack made with gram flour and spices. Speaking on installing the plant, Vipin Vijayan, Deputy Manager, Waaree Energies, said, “This is the first of its kind solar power project commissioned by Waaree in the Vidharbha region. The power generated is directly fed to the factory for internal consumption.”

The solar plant would reduce the power that the company draws from the main grid and could be used as an alternate source for the fuel-guzzling savoury snacks.

Commenting on the same, Shivkishan Agrawal, Chairman, Haldiram Foods, said “The group was committed to increasing its dependence on green power.”
