Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) on 13th September formally announced the completion of the takeover process of The Claridges, Surajkund hotel in the Delhi NCR on management contract. The hotel has been rebranded as Vivanta by Taj - Surajkund, NCR.

With this takeover, the number of Vivanta-branded hotels in the Delhi NCR has gone up to three, and overall to 28. One of the premium properties of the region in terms of design and facilities, the 287-room hotel has been operational since 2010. The hotel boasts of spacious suites, 22,000 sq ft of business and conferencing space, Jiva Grande Spa spread across 18,500-sq-ft of area, and F&B outlets.

Mr. Raymond N Bickson, MD & CEO, IHCL, said “that the new tie-up is part of the company’s strategy to expand their presence in the NCR and the objective to achieve growth through domestic dominance. I was specifically excited about the ‘Jiva programme’ offered at the Spa as well as various other programmes to be built around the Vivanta motifs that showcase the local history and culture.”

Mr. Veer Vijay Singh, COO, Vivanta by Taj Hotels & Resorts, said “that the property matches all standards of a luxury hotel that the Vivanta brand stands for, and that was the reason for considering the opportunity for a management tie-up with The Claridges Hotels and Resorts.”

Mr. Arun Khanna, CEO, The Claridges Hotels and Resorts, said “that it was a "conscious decision" to hand over the management of The Claridges, Surajkund to the Taj group, as they felt they lacked the expertise to manage the large MICE hotel. “By creating a synergy with a brand like the Taj ,we felt that it would bring more value and strength to the hotel.”
