Chaayos in advance talk with VCs to raise Rs 40 crore

Chaayos, which started its first outlet in Delhi in 2012, is in talks with VCs to raise Rs 40 crore for expansion.

“We have not yet finalised the deal but are in advance talks withVCs to raise Rs 40 crore which will be used for expansion of the brand, building team and marketing the brand right,” shares Raghav Verma, Co-Founder, Chaayos.

The Chai player, which has eight outlets in Delhi, NCR, is also planning to enter cities like Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru by 2015 end.

The group is also planning to open 50 cafes- 20 in NCR and another 30 in Pune, Bangalore, and Mumbai in the next 18 months.

The company lately experimented with Chai-on-demand, a chai delivery service - which is a hit with customers. To provide chai at customer's door-step, Chaayos has partnered with Ola Cafe, a new service by Ola Cabs, and delivery partner Grofers.

In less than a month after launch, the company is fulfilling over 500 on-demand orders a day in Gurgaon. Chaayos has recently launched its mobile app to place food & chai-on-demand orders.

“We recently entered into chai delivery business and have also partnered with Ola Cafe to deliver our chai which has got a great response in last few months,” added Verma.

The group is also very active on Twitter and Face book pages and is using #ChaiDelivery to promote its business.
