Abad Fisheries to enter domestic market

Abad Fisheries, one of India’s leading seafood exporters which have been in operation since 1931 is planning to enter ready-to-cook and ready-to-fry fish market with a range of products including breaded items.

The group will be targeting middle class customer and above. Faraz Javeed, Director, Abad Fisheries, said, “The total fish market concentrated in the unorganised sector in the country is worth around Rs 50,000 crore. There are only a handful of players now in organised sector and our products for the local market will have the same quality specified for our fish exports."

The company has an export turnover of around Rs 150 crore and has introduced its products under the brand Sea Sparkle in the major retail outlets in Kerala, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Madurai. The company is also planning to expand other cities and metros in the next two to three years. Abad fisheries provide fish from sardine and mackerel to anchovy, tuna, pomfret to high-end shrimps and seer fish. Fillets of imported fish basa are also available.
